We’ve set up the most amazing three days for your students, handpicking a team of staff and student ambassadors to look after them throughout. They’ll get to explore everything our accessible, modern campus has to offer, and stay in their own student flat with other Year 10s from across Norfolk and North Suffolk. Our packed timetable includes sport club and society taster sessions, introductory sessions to different university subjects, and the chance to learn about placement years and wellbeing on campus. There’ll also be plenty of time for them to socialise and experience what life on campus is really like with disco nights, movies, karaoke, and even a mini freshers fair!
Students need to apply for places themselves, so we need your help to spread the word. There are no academic requirements, but there are eligibility criteria.
Uni Unlocked is for those students who may not be considering Higher Education as a viable option for them. This is their opportunity to see what’s possible.
Those who would benefit the most may have limited experience of Higher Education, may be in receipt of free school meals, have had a disrupted educational journey, or just need some guidance to help them consider their future choices a bit more.
Eligibility criteria include:
More detailed eligibility criteria can be found below.
Students can find out more information about Uni Unlocked and apply online on our website. The form takes just minutes to fill in, and we do the rest.
We’ve also included an extensive list of FAQs to answer any questions or concerns they may have. If you’ve got more questions, you can contact our team and we’ll get back with the answers you’re looking for.
What are the eligibility criteria?
Students can apply if:
And they meet at least one of the below criteria:
What if my students can't afford to get there?
We don’t want transport costs to be a barrier to taking part in any of our activities. Uni Unlocked is completely free – we’ll share more information about transport to and from UEA campus with students who are offered a place.
Are meals provided?
Yes, we’ll provide breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks in between throughout the residential. There will always be a range of options, and we’ll take care of any dietary requirements your students may have.
Where will students stay?
Students will stay in university accommodation on our modern, accessible campus. Each student will have their own lockable bedroom with an ensuite bathroom; they’ll share a kitchen and social space with other Year 10s taking part in Uni Unlocked.
Trained UEA student ambassadors will be present in every student flat and staff will be on hand throughout.
How many places are available?
40 places are available for Uni Unlocked 2025.
If there are more applications than there are places, we will allocate places randomly among the applicants who meet our eligibility criteria. Those who aren’t offered a place will be added to a waiting list, and may be offered a place if another student drops out.
