Choosing what to study at university can be a daunting prospect. Subject Insight Days are designed to give your students a “try before you buy” experience of different university subjects. Some days are devoted to a single subject, while others cover multiple related subjects, grouped together around a theme. For example, Explore Working With People includes social work, psychology, criminology, and education. This way, students get to experience subjects they may not have considered previously – and maybe discover their new passion along the way.
No matter the subject, you can expect a day of hands-on workshops and insightful talks. UEA academics and current students will be on hand to deliver sessions and answer any questions your students may have.
We’re delivering eight different Subject Insight Days in 2025-26, throughout the academic year. Bookings for each day will open around 12 weeks before the event takes place. You can book multiple places for your students at once, or students can book individually via the UEA website.
We’ll update this page as bookings open, so keep checking back throughout the year.
For students who are fascinated by the world around them. Participants will be introduced to the rich and diverse field of Environmental Sciences, the study of how the natural world works and how humans impact it. From volcanic eruptions to flood prediction, there will be plenty of hands-on activities to get stuck into, plus the chance to speak with current UEA students and academics.
Signups close on Friday 17 October 2025.
For students who are passionate about helping others. We’ve designed this taster day for anyone who’s considering a degree in medicine, health sciences, or pharmacy. Participants will step into the role of a healthcare professional as they investigate a patient case, explore anatomy, practise prescribing, and hone their consultation skills. There will also be plenty of time to talk with academics, hear from current students, and gain insight into the different course options on offer.
Signups close on Friday 17 October 2025.
For students who like solving problems and working with numbers. This is the perfect opportunity for anyone curious about studying engineering, maths, physics, or actuarial science. We’ll set design challenges, deliver technical workshops, and lead risk-modelling activities to give your students a taster of STEM in action. UEA academics and current students will be on hand throughout to answer any questions and share their experiences.
Signups close on Friday 24 October 2025.
For students who are curious about the building blocks of life. Participants will spend a day in our labs, conducting experiments and immersing themselves in the world of biological sciences. This is their chance to explore their interests and get a taster of studying biology at university, from tiny micro-organisms to vast ecosystems – with plenty of opportunities to chat with current students and academics too.
Signups will open in January 2026.
For students who are passionate about English, History, Politics or Art, but unsure where their passion could take them. Participants will explore a range of rewarding careers through hands-on activities, chat to current UEA students, and discover how a humanities degree can open doors to an exciting future profession. Students will come away feeling excited about their subject choices and informed about their options in the future.
Signups will open in Spring 2026.
For students who want to tackle societal problems and feed their curiosity. Participants will experience taster sessions covering psychology, social work, education, sociology, and law. They’ll come away with valuable insights into rewarding careers that make a real difference to people’s lives.
Signups will open in Spring 2026.
For students who enjoy solving complex problems and want to develop mathematical knowledge. Participants will try their hand at problem-solving and programming in tailor-made workshops, and explore our campus with current UEA students. With taster lectures and plenty of chances to ask the big questions, students will come away with a greater understanding of where a maths degree could take them.
Signups will open in Spring 2026.
