The best news? Participants who engage throughout Preparing for Medicine and meet our course entry requirements will get a guaranteed interview to study medicine at UEA.
Preparing for Medicine is an 18-month long set of activities, designed to support students throughout Year 12 (Level 3 Year 1) and Year 13 (Level 3 Year 2). Whether they’ve always dreamed of being a doctor or they’ve recently decided to study medicine, we’ll guide them through the application process, medical school interviews, a work experience placement, and the most common admissions test. It’s really an experience like no other.
Students need to apply for a place themselves, so spread the word to anyone you think might be interested. There’s lots more information for students on the UEA website. Some activities will involve self–directed learning to be completed in the student’s own time and some will be led by us. There’s a real mix of delivery styles throughout the 18 months to enable the widest possible engagement.
Applications are open now! The deadline to apply is 30 November 2025.
We deliver Preparing for Medicine in partnership with Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) and the Medical Schools Council. To apply, students will need to complete an online application form via the Medical Schools Council website. The link below takes you to our student-facing webpage, where students can access the application form.
How much does it cost?
Preparing For Medicine is completely free. We will even cover travel costs for eligible students to and from in-person events.
Who submits the application?
Students should sign up themselves – but they can always ask our Outreach team for help. Applications are open until 30 November 2025; details on how to apply are on the UEA website.
Are there eligibility criteria?
Yes – Preparing for Medicine is for students from underrepresented backgrounds, so applicants will need to meet the eligibility criteria.
The full eligibility criteria are available to read on the Medical Schools Council website.
