We can support you to support your students in many ways, but there is also lots of information available for them directly. Share the mature student webpages on the UEA website with your students so they can read about the support available themselves. Support options include:
Induction Support
1-hour presentation helping students to understand entry requirements and tariff points. We can also provide support over a full day to information, advice and guidance staff during your induction period.
Autumn Talk: UCAS and Personal Statement
1-hour presentation about navigating UCAS applications and what to include in a personal statement.
October: Access to Higher Education Campus Event
Join us from to experience Higher Education for a day – we’ll inform, inspire and provide insight on campus life. All Access pathways welcomed, and support with transport is available to colleges via our travel fund.
Spring Talk: Student Finance and What Happens Next
Taking place post-UCAS application, this 1-hour presentation is a guide to student finance and what to expect now that applications are being reviewed.
1-2-1 Advice Sessions
Students can request a 1-2-1 online session with Gem, our Mature Student Officer, and chat about all things higher education in an informal setting. Students can book sessions directly via Outlook – feel free to share with them.
What counts as a mature student?
A mature student is anyone over the age of 21 at the start of their Higher Education studies, but we’ll also support students who are on access courses, regardless of their age.
Who signs up for the activities?
Teachers can sign up for multiple places at once. Get in touch with Gem to explore your support options.
Where do the activities take place?
Talks will take place in college, the Access to Higher Education event takes place on campus at UEA, and 1-2-1 meetings with Gem, our Mature Student Officer, take place online via Microsoft Teams. A real mixture, to suit all needs.
