The main activity takes place across two sessions in March 2026. These first sessions are designed to help students decide whether law is for them. If they decide it is, further sessions will follow. If they decide law isn’t the right fit for them, that’s fine too – they won’t be expected to attend any further sessions.
The final programme is still being developed but the list below gives you an idea of our current thoughts based on previous years’ activities:
All activities are designed to ensure that students are ready to engage in the recruitment processes for law that start as soon as they begin university.
When does this take place?
Session 1 – 18 March 2026, 11am-3.30pm
Session 2 – 26 March 2026, 11am-3.30pm
Additional dates for 2025-26 are still TBC. We’ll update this page once the details are confirmed.
Do my students really need to be thinking about networking and work experience at this stage?
In this sector, yes. Anyone who wants to pursue a career in a corporate law firm or as a barrister needs to be prepared to throw themselves into the range of networking events and competitions that start right from the first year of university. Future Legal Leaders offers them an opportunity to be fully prepared.
Who is this event for?
Year 12 / Level 3 Year 1 students with an interest in studying Law at higher education level. Students do not have to want to apply to study at UEA to sign up for this event.
Who signs up?
Students should sign up for this event directly by completing the signup form on the UEA website.
As long as they meet the eligibility criteria (listed on the webpage linked above) they will be considered for a place on Future Legal Leaders.
Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
